Son Naeun of Apink reveals struggles after leaving group to pursue acting
Son Naeun revealed the struggles she faced after leaving her group to pursue acting.
On July 22nd, the YouTube channel YouTube Ha Ji Young uploaded a video featuring Son Naeun, a former member of Apink.
In the video, Son Naeun opened up about the difficulties she faced due to being recognized as an idol-turned-actress.
Son Naeun said:
“(In the past) I always thought, ‘Those people must be judging me.’ And because I was originally a singer, there was that kind of perception. Even now, it hasn’t completely disappeared.”
She was concerned about public perception since she transitioned from an idol to an actress, not starting out solely as an actress. She added that while those worries haven’t entirely vanished, she makes an effort to avoid dwelling on them.
Son Naeun said:
“That’s why I work harder and improve more. When I’m on set, I try to make the atmosphere comfortable by being approachable and smiling a lot, and then I feel, ‘Hey, this is manageable,’”
Meanwhile, Son Naeun recently drew attention for her role in SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated. Episode 8 of the drama recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 23.1% (according to Nielsen Korea), setting a new personal best and gaining great popularity.
