EXO’s D.O. pursues civil and criminal legal action against malicious commenters
EXO‘s D.O. and Blitzway Entertainment announced on August 5 that they are pursuing civil and criminal legal action against people posting malicious content about the artist.
Blitzway Entertainment said it posted the update on its official social media accounts. The agency said it has been monitoring online communities, social media, and various other platforms for content that violates its artists’ rights, including those of D.O.
The company reported finding numerous posts and comments that involve “the spread of false information, defamation, insults, malicious slander, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy.” In response, Blitzway Entertainment confirmed it is taking both civil and criminal steps against the responsible individuals.
The agency added that even if offending posts are deleted or set to private, legal action will proceed using evidence already gathered. Blitzway Entertainment also warned that anonymity will not shield perpetrators and said it can identify and hold them accountable under the law.
Blitzway Entertainment urged fans to report any harmful material they find. The agency stated it will “take a strong stance without agreeing to any settlements or showing leniency to offenders going forward.”
Blitzway Entertainment noted D.O.’s current activities while announcing the legal measures. In January, he participated in EXO’s eighth full-length album, REVERXE. EXO is now on its sixth world tour, “EXO PLANET.” Last month, D.O. appeared on the variety program “Kong Kong Farm.” He is also scheduled to lend his voice to the animated film Free Dogs, which is set to be released on August 19.
Blitzway Entertainment framed the announcement as part of ongoing efforts to protect the rights and reputation of its artists.
