BTS will not submit music for 69th Grammy Awards consideration

BTS announced on July 29 that they will not submit any music for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 2027.
The group posted the decision on their personal social media accounts.
The group said:
“We hope music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language,”
while thanking ARMY and listeners for their continued support.
The statement arrived after the Recording Academy added a new category called ‘Best Asian Pop Music Performance’ to the upcoming ceremony. That category is described as recognizing pop music produced in or widely recognized from the Asian market.
BTS did not directly reference the new Grammy category in their message.
To date, BTS have received five Grammy nominations, including three consecutive nominations for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. The group also released their full album ‘ARIRANG’ earlier this year.
