Leading Vocalist’s “Trophy Husband” Star Secures Role After Extended Unemployment

Jung Suk Won is making a slow comeback after his drug scandal shut down his acting career.

The controversy started in 2018 when Jung Suk Won was caught up in a drug case. He got a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. Since then, major Korean broadcasters KBS, EBS, and MBC banned him in 2020. His acting gigs dropped to almost nothing.

Now, the actor is back in the spotlight — sort of. On April 19, Baek Ji Young, his wife and famous vocalist, posted a new video on her YouTube showing his daily life. While she and their daughter are in New Zealand, Jung Suk Won stays in Korea working as a special instructor at Seoul Action School.

He’s teaching action training to new actors after martial arts director Jung Doo Hong asked him to step in. What started as his own training turned into a six-month guest instructor job.

Jung Suk Won also revealed he’s prepping for a new acting project — his first in about three years since his last role on Netflix’s Sweet Home Season 2 in 2023. But he’s not taking romance roles anymore.

Jung Suk Won debuted in 2008 with The Divine Weapon. He built a solid resume with shows like Rooftop Prince, IRIS 2, and films like The Tiger. But after the drug controversy, his career hit a wall and public appearances dropped.
