Banned American Streamer Sentenced to Korean Labor Prison for Child Sexual Harassment and Threats Against BTS

Johnny Somali is facing serious legal consequences after a string of controversial actions in South Korea.

The streamer, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, quickly gained infamy in 2024 for harassing convenience store workers, public indecency, and vandalism during his visit.

The controversy began when Somali desecrated a statue honoring South Korean comfort women and committed child sexual harassment during a stunt at Lotte World theme park. These acts led to multiple charges against him.

On April 15, it was announced that Somali was found guilty of obstruction of business and distributing fabricated sexually explicit content.

Somali was barred from leaving South Korea pending trial. Before sentencing, he expressed remorse and said he wanted to apologize to South Koreans for his actions.

He was immediately detained after the verdict and sentenced to six months of prison labor, 20 days of detention, registration as a sex offender, and a five-year ban on working at institutions related to children, adolescents, and the disabled.
