Kim Ji Hoon opens up about the steamy sex scene in Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area — and drops some surprising reveals!

The controversy began when viewers were shocked by the rare, fully nude sex scene between Kim Ji Hoon’s character Oh Taek Su (Denver) and Lee Joo Bin’s Yoon Mi Sun. K-Dramas rarely go this explicit.

The scene involves a heated kiss, stripping down, and sex — all on Netflix’s Korean adaptation of the hit Spanish thriller.

Kim Ji Hoon broke down the behind-the-scenes of the infamous scene on Jang Sung Kyu’s Don’t Forget Your Breakfast (Ep 8).

Jang Sung Kyu: I checked out your romantic bed scene.
Kim Ji Hoon: Right. That was my first and last.

He explained the original Spanish version was more intense but said they aimed to match that level with preparation and professionalism. No stunts here — just straight acting.

Jang Sung Kyu asked about how the actors managed to stay covered during the nude shoot. Kim Ji Hoon had a funny but real answer:

Kim Ji Hoon: Well… We use pads and… we tape that… around our body… like a diaper.
Jang Sung Kyu: Does someone help you with that?
Kim Ji Hoon: I’m on my own.

The host pushed further on whether natural physical reactions like erections could happen during filming.

Jang Sung Kyu: When physical change happens, can it pop out from diapers or something?
Kim Ji Hoon: Physically it would be impossible for any man. Personally, I have to take care of a lot of things for the bed scene. Not at all.
Jang Sung Kyu: Really?!
Kim Ji Hoon: It’s impossible.

Kim Ji Hoon admitted intimacy wasn’t the focus during shooting.

Kim Ji Hoon: We cannot focus on being high but focus on facial expression or acting… like this. We are only focusing on acting.

Jang Sung Kyu asked if there was a sex director like a stunt coordinator on set.

Jang Sung Kyu: But in the case of action movie fighting, a person like Du Hong Jung designs. Do you plan something for that? Is there a sex director?
Kim Ji Hoon: No. There’s no one. We agree on that.

Jang Sung Kyu also couldn’t help but point out Kim Ji Hoon’s flawless skin — even his back was clear.

Jang Sung Kyu: I saw Money Heist Korea scene and thought you take care of skin a lot. Your back was so clean… There were no pimples. How is it so soft?
Kim Ji Hoon: It’s the first question I get. You even watched that movie… But I don’t manage a lot. Since it’s hard to manage the back. I cannot go shop, and my back shoulder is kind of firm. So, I cannot touch this. So, the middle part would be so dry. I cannot touch, I cannot apply this.
Jang Sung Kyu: It’s innate.
