BLACKPINK’s Jisoo Responds to Sexual Assault Accusations Involving Her Brother

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is facing backlash after her brother, Kim Jung Hun, was accused of sexual assault and abuse.
The controversy began when Kim Jung Hun was arrested on April 16 following a report from a female streamer. She claimed he bought a “date ticket” with her, had a meal and drinks, then took her to his home where he made unwanted physical contact. The streamer also accused him of blackmail and attempted sexual assault.
Soon after, an account claiming to be his wife posted handwritten statements online. She accused him of domestic abuse, social isolation, monitoring her online activity, and sexual assault, sharing photographic evidence.
Fans quickly connected the suspect’s surname, Kim, and other details to Jisoo’s brother, sparking intense speculation about his involvement in her career and company, BLISSOO.
As the situation unfolded, Jisoo’s legal team issued a strong statement on April 20 denying any financial, business, or legal ties between Kim Jung Hun and BLISSOO. They called claims that he co-founded or holds an executive position in the company “entirely false.”
The statement emphasized that Jisoo has lived independently from her family since her trainee days and is not involved in her brother’s personal life. It also clarified that neither she nor BLISSOO provides him with financial or legal support.
“First and foremost, the matter currently being raised is entirely unrelated to the artist and BLISSOO, and the majority of content being spread online constitutes unverified speculation or outright falsehoods.
The artist began her life as a trainee from a young age, left home early, and has lived apart from her family for many years. She is in a position where she cannot be aware of, nor involved in, that individual’s personal affairs.
Furthermore, while the artist did receive some limited advice and assistance from family members as intermediaries during consultations in the process of establishing BLISSOO, no family member has ever received compensation from BLISSOO or participated in its decision-making, either then or now. Since that time, the company has been operated with complete independence, entirely separate from any family involvement.
In particular, claims that have been circulating in certain media and online, to the effect that “the individual and the artist founded the company together” or that “the individual is an executive or CEO of BLISSOO,” are entirely false. We make it explicitly clear that the individual in question currently has no legal or managerial relationship with BLISSOO of any kind.
Furthermore, BLISSOO and the artist are not providing any financial or legal support to the individual in question, and have no plans to do so. We are also not engaged in any communication or involvement with the individual in connection with this matter.
Nevertheless, continuing to spread false information, or using the artist’s name, likeness, or image in connection with unrelated matters for public consumption and dissemination, constitutes a clear infringement of rights and an act of defamation.”

The case remains under investigation as the public watches closely. Jisoo’s team is making it clear she is not connected to her brother’s alleged crimes or his legal troubles.
