Jungkook’s Live Vocals Spark Backlash Over Controversial BTS Song

BTS is facing backlash over the production of their latest song “Into the Sun” from the album ARIRANG.

The controversy began when fans and netizens slammed the track for its heavy autotune and over-processed sound. Many felt the studio version buried BTS members’ natural vocals under layers of unnecessary effects. The criticism quickly spread on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, where fans mocked the production choices.

Since its release, “Into the Sun” has struggled to gain favor, with many calling out the muffled and artificial sound.

Then came BTS’s Tokyo Dome concert, where Jungkook performed part of “Into the Sun” completely live. Fans who had dismissed the song were shocked and started replaying his live vocals nonstop.

The live performance clip went viral not only in Japan but also in Korea and worldwide. Even Tony Award-winning musical actress Lea Salonga praised Jungkook’s live singing, adding weight to the positive reactions.

“When a world-class vocalist like Lea Salonga—a Tony Award winner, vocal powerhouse, and one of the Philippines’ most respected music icons—recognizes vocal excellence, it means something.

As the situation unfolded, Korean netizens flooded online forums with comments comparing the studio and live versions.

“I hadn’t listened to this song again after hearing the studio version, but after hearing Jungkook sing it, I can’t stop listening. It’s so good, it’s melting my ears”
“Oh wow, the studio version feels kind of mechanical and artificial, but the live version is so much better.”
“Why did they make the studio version sound so muffled? The live version is 100 times better.”
“I really can’t stand the auto-tune in the studio version. The live version is the best.”
“Oh wow, this is truly so good.”

The live stage performance has reignited the debate over the production of “Into the Sun,” with fans demanding a version that better showcases BTS’s real vocals.
