Lee Ji signs with Jo Yong Pil’s former manager for trot debut

Lee Ji has officially debuted in the trot music scene, announcing her new career direction after signing an exclusive management deal with entertainment agency C&ALL. Known for her impressive background, including a Ph.D. in dentistry from Seoul National University, she is ready to take on the music industry.

The agreement connects Lee Ji with C&ALL CEO Maeng Jeong Ho, a prominent figure in the K-music world. Maeng Jeong Ho has a track record of managing legends like Jo Yong Pil in Japan and has guided various artists like Lee Ye Rin and Kim Heung Kook. His expertise is expected to support Lee Ji in her artistic journey.

Lee Ji recently released her first single, “Uri Oppaya” (My Older Brother), a lively semi-trot song exploring the joys of falling in love. With its catchy beat and relatable lyrics, the song aims to reach a broad audience.

The track was crafted with the help of notable industry figures. Trot singer Park Gu Yoon, known for his hit “Ppunigo,” contributed to its composition. The production was led by veteran producer Shin In Soo, famed for hits with Fin.K.L and Fly to the Sky.

The music video for “Uri Oppaya” features fun cameos by actor Jo Jae Yoon and trot singer Jo Jung Min, who joined in due to their connections with Lee Ji. Their performances enhance the song’s playful narrative.

Lee Ji’s remarkable journey includes 22 years as a practicing dentist in Gangnam, Seoul. Her dedication to both medicine and music marks her as a unique figure in the industry, having previously sung ballads before embracing the trot genre.
