G-Dragon launches “HERITAGE IN PEACE” with UNESCO to fund World Heritage sites
G-Dragon launched the global fundraising campaign “HERITAGE IN PEACE” with UNESCO to raise money for World Heritage sites.
G-Dragon served as an official ambassador at the 48th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which took place from July 13 to 29 at BEXCO in Busan.
He was the keynote speaker at the opening ceremony and addressed delegates from more than 190 countries.
During the session, the JUSPEACE Foundation — the public-interest foundation established by G-Dragon — announced the “HERITAGE IN PEACE” campaign in partnership with UNESCO.
The campaign’s goal is to set up a World Heritage Fund to support restoration work at World Heritage sites threatened by armed conflict and climate change.
UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany thanked G-Dragon for initiating the fundraising project during his opening remarks.
G-Dragon said the following in his keynote address:
“Protecting our heritage is not simply about preserving the past—it is about creating peace for the future.”
Video of his speech spread quickly across short-form platforms and global social media, drawing attention particularly to his South Korean flag-inspired nail art.
The campaign will direct donations to UNESCO’s official World Heritage Fund.
A representative from the JUSPEACE Foundation commented on the effort:
“The impact G-Dragon demonstrated at the UNESCO committee proved the powerful synergy that can be created when an artist’s positive influence meets global social issues.”
The foundation also said:
“JUSPEACE Foundation will continue leading sustainable global public-interest campaigns that people around the world can relate to and actively participate in”
Separately, Galaxy Corporation and the JUSPEACE Foundation announced plans to build an entertainment technology ecosystem aimed at expanding the social value of artists’ intellectual property on a global scale.
